About Nick:

Nick leads on HSBC Innovation Banking’s early stage relationships with UK Fintechs. He works with founding teams on a variety of solutions, from basic banking to more strategic solutions, such as venture debt and connectivity with the wider innovation ecosystem.

Nick sits within the Venture & Growth team at HSBC Innovation Banking (HSBC IvB), formerly Silicon Valley Bank UK. It is a specialist technology bank dedicated to supporting venture backed companies across all life stages, from pre-seed to pre-IPO. The UK is the bank’s headquarters, but has a global presence, with teams covering the innovation ecosystem in the United States, Europe & Nordics, Israel and Hong Kong.

As part of a team of industry specialists, Nick manages relationships with FinTech’s that meet certain criteria:

  • Founders must have raised at a minimum a pre-seed round of £500k from VCs, angels or strategic investors
  • Most often, they plan to leverage VC funding to accelerate the businesses’ growth ahead of a future acquisition or IPO
  • Companies must have a UK incorporated entity in order to establish a relationship with HSCB IvB UK
  • Whilst HSBC IvB does not bank certain sub-sectors of fintech (such as crypto exchanges and non-regulated payments companies) we work with a broad range of ventures coming from areas such as payments, lending, invest-tech, FS focused AI and software companies and embedded platforms.

Previous to HSBC IvB, Nick worked in industry with TradingView, a series C invest-tech, leading on their UK partnerships and business development strategy. He also spent time with 11:FS, a boutique venture builder for fintechs in the Research & Strategy team. He began his career on a Graduate Scheme with Barclays and qualified as an investment manager before moving to the bank’s ventures & CVC arm in Shoreditch.

Having worked as a banker, consultant and within industry, Nick has experienced the fintech ecosystem from multiple viewpoints and enjoys speaking with founders about fundraising, banking, GTM strategies, partnerships and propositions.
