Level39 Turns 13

Now in its 13th year, Level39 is one of the UK’s leading tech communities, home to over 180 businesses. What started as a fintech hub is now a cross‑sector ecosystem driven by the founders, partners and global network accelerating innovation with us.

Level39 at 13: Celebrating the Community That Made Us

On 18th March, Level39 marks 13 years since opening its doors.

Launched by CWG in 2013, Level39 was founded with a clear ambition: to create a home for high‑growth fintech businesses scaling in London, and to connect them directly with leading global financial institutions across the Canary Wharf estate.

Thirteen years later, Level39 has evolved into a thriving innovation ecosystem. Today, our 60,000 sq ft workspace supports 180 businesses who call Level39 home, alongside a powerful network of industry partners, mentors, investors and corporates. Together, they share a commitment to accelerating innovation and supporting ambitious founders to grow in the UK and internationally.

From Fintech Hub to Cross‑Sector Innovation Community

What began as a dedicated fintech space has grown far beyond its roots. Level39 now convenes innovators across FinTech, Cyber Security, Artificial Intelligence, HealthTech and beyond – reflecting the fast‑moving convergence shaping the future of financial and digital services.

Teams join us at every stage of their journey: from solo founders and early‑stage startups to agile, scaling teams. Our membership model provides flexibility to grow across our floors and, when the time is right, into the wider CWG office ecosystem, supporting businesses ranging from a single desk to 100+.

Our Annual Impact

Each year, the Level39 team delivers a programme of activity designed to connect, support and elevate founders:

  • Onboards approximately 40 new startup companies into the ecosystem
  • Facilitates up to 60 curated introductions through MentorHours, Investor Sessions and workshops
  • Hosts over 260 events, welcoming more than 14,000 attendees
  • Welcomes 40+ international trade missions from over 20 countries
  • Curates thought‑leadership events aligned to key moments including International Women’s Day, UK Fintech Week, London Tech Week, pitch sessions and more (past and upcoming events can be viewed online)
  • Supports global programmes from Innovation Norway, Swedish Chamber of Commerce, London & Partners, HoFT Berlin, and many others

The Team Behind the Community

Behind every introduction, event and success story is a dedicated team of 11 staff across membership, ecosystem and network, events, marketing, front‑of‑house, operations and finance – supported by CWG departments and the wider leadership team.

A Message from Our Director, Amy French

“Celebrating 13 years of Level39 is a moment of real pride. What makes Level39 special is, first and foremost, the strength of our community – ambitious founders, scaleups, partners and a network who support one another as they grow.

I’m incredibly proud of the value my team delivers every day, from curated introductions to thought‑leading events and global connections, all designed to support companies at every stage of their journey.

Being based in Canary Wharf, and supported by CWG, gives our members a unique advantage – access to one of the world’s most thriving urban hubs, global institutions and an ecosystem that enables businesses not just to scale, but to succeed on an international stage.”
